Multi-Cancer Early Detection

MCED tests detect cancer signals from blood before symptoms appear with major population-screening trials underway. The session covers Galleri real-world evidence from PATHFINDER 2 and the NHS-Galleri trial, the SYMPLIFY symptomatic-patient trial, population-screening pilots including the NCI Vanguard study, reimbursement and equity issues, and the integration of MCED into primary care. Discussion addresses the false-positive workup burden, the heterogeneity of MCED platforms (Grail Galleri vs ExactSciences vs Freenome vs Delfi), the comparison of MCED with existing single-cancer screening, the regulatory pathway under FDA breakthrough-device designation, and the global health perspective on MCED access in resource-limited settings.
